JOB SUMMARY

A commercial poultry farm in the heart of the airport town, Omagwa is recruiting. The farm, over a decade old, operates an integrated poultry production system which runs every day of the year because poultry requires constant feeding, watering, egg collection, monitoring, and biosecurity.

Ready to increase the team, she is hiring a farm supervisor. The supervisor is the operational support to the farm manager and plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth daily running of the poultry farm.

This is a leadership position for someone who enjoys structure, responsibility, teamwork, and practical work. Unlike many office-based supervisory positions, this role combines leadership with hands-on farm work. Supervisors are expected to work alongside farm workers whenever operational demands require it.

WORKING CONDITIONS & HOUSING ARRANGEMENT 

• No previous farm experience is required. 
• This is a live-in position. What this means is that staff reside on the farm premises to ensure prompt responses to operational needs and emergencies. Accommodation is provided throughout the duration of employment, allowing employees to live close to their work, reduce transportation costs, and respond quickly when required. 
• The housing quarters and operational area are located within the same secured farm premises. 
• Employees prepare their own meals, while the farm provides clean water.
• Rather than operating on a fixed weekly day-off schedule, time off is managed through an approved leave and relief system. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND FUNCTIONS:

• Staff Supervision

• • Coordinate daily work schedules for farm staff.
  • Assign tasks and monitor completion.
  • Lead by example by participating in farm work.
  • Coach new workers on farm procedures.
  • Maintain discipline and professionalism among staff.
  • Report staff performance to the farm manager.

• Daily Farm Operations

• • Assist the farm manager in coordinating all daily poultry activities.
  • Ensure birds receive feed and water according to schedule.
  • Monitor bird health and promptly report abnormalities.
  • Supervise egg collection, grading, counting, and storage.
  • Supervise broiler production activities.
  • Ensure poultry houses remain clean and properly maintained.
  • Ensure compliance with farm routines and operational standards.

• Biosecurity & Farm Safety

• • Enforce strict farm biosecurity procedures.
  • Ensure visitors comply with entry protocols.
  • Monitor sanitation of poultry houses and equipment.
  • Ensure protective clothing is properly used.
  • Help prevent disease outbreaks through proper farm hygiene.

• Farm Security

• • Help safeguard farm assets.
  • Monitor movement of eggs, birds, feed, and other farm produce.
  • Prevent theft or unauthorized removal of farm property.
  • Report security concerns immediately.
  • Ensure accountability for production outputs.

• Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records, including

• • Daily egg production
  • Mortality records
  • Feed consumption
  • Medication records
  • Broiler sales
  • Pullet growth records
  • Staff attendance
  • Farm inventory

• Administration

• • Prepare simple daily and weekly reports.
  • Support stock counting and inventory management.
  • Assist with ordering farm supplies.
  • Communicate operational issues to the farm manager.
  • Ensure proper documentation of farm activities.

QUALIFICATIONS 

• Bachelor’s Degree or HND in communication, animal science or any related science or social science discipline
• Must have completed NYSC 

TECHNICAL SKILLS

• Good spoken and written communication
• Ability to write simple reports
• Basic computer skills
