JOB SUMMARY

A private household in Trans Amadi, Port Harcourt, is seeking a reliable, experienced, and mature Private Driver to provide safe, punctual, and professional transportation services to the family member.

The ideal candidate should have strong practical driving experience, particularly with manual transmission vehicles, while also being comfortable driving automatic vehicles. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND FUNCTIONS

• Provide safe, reliable, and timely transportation for the employer and designated family members.
• Drive both manual and automatic vehicles competently and confidently.
• Pick up and drop off the employer or designated passengers at scheduled locations.
• Maintain punctuality and ensure readiness before scheduled trips.
• Plan routes effectively and use good judgment when navigating traffic and road conditions.
• Demonstrate good knowledge of Port Harcourt and surrounding areas.
• Observe all road traffic regulations and maintain safe driving practices at all times.
• Conduct basic daily checks of the vehicle, including tyres, fuel, engine oil, coolant, lights, brakes, and other essential components.
• Keep the assigned vehicle clean, presentable, and in good operating condition.
• Promptly report vehicle faults, unusual sounds, warning signs, accidents, or maintenance needs to the employer.
• Monitor fuel levels and assist with routine vehicle maintenance and servicing arrangements when required.
• Exercise patience and professionalism when dealing with passengers, other road users, security personnel, and service providers.
• Maintain strict confidentiality regarding the employer’s movements, schedule, household affairs, and personal information.
• Assist with occasional errands, such as picking up documents, parcels, groceries, or other items, when assigned.
• Remain available during working hours and respond appropriately to changes in the employer’s schedule.
• Work occasional Saturdays only when there is an urgent or exceptional need.
• Perform other reasonable driving-related duties assigned by the employer.

TECHNICAL SKILLS 

• Valid Driving Licence: Must possess a valid Nigerian driver’s licence appropriate for the vehicle being driven.
• Manual Driving Proficiency: Strong practical ability to drive manual transmission vehicles confidently and smoothly.
• Automatic Vehicle Handling: Ability to operate automatic transmission vehicles safely and competently.
• Navigation: Ability to use Google Maps or other navigation tools to identify routes and manage unfamiliar destinations..

QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be able to communicate in English Language
• Must possess a valid Nigerian driver’s licence.
• Candidates residing within or close to Trans Amadi and surrounding areas are strongly preferred due to the work schedule and location.

WORK EXPERIENCE

• Minimum of 3 years’ professional driving experience is preferred.
• Previous experience as a private driver, personal driver, family driver, executive driver, company driver, or chauffeur is an advantage.
• Demonstrable experience driving manual transmission vehicles is essential.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Work Days: Monday–Friday
• Working Hours: 7:00 AM–6:00 PM
• Regular Days Off: Saturday and Sunday
• Weekend Work: Rare; Saturday availability may occasionally be required for urgent needs.
• Location: Trans Amadi, Port Harcourt
• Salary: ₦70,000–₦100,000 monthly, depending on experience and driving competence.
