JOB SUMMARY –

My client, an automated mega farm in Rivers State, is seeking a personnel who will serve as the Maintenance/Logistics Officer. 

The ideal candidate is a hands-on and multi-skilled individual who will be responsible for ensuring smooth farm operations by handling day-to-day maintenance issues and double as a driver heading the logistics team. 

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

• This position requires a proactive individual who can quickly troubleshoot faults in equipment, vehicles, housing units, or farm facilities, while coordinating transport services.
• The officer also doubles as a driver, supporting the movement of people, produce, and materials, and leads the logistics team to ensure operational safety and efficiency.

QUALIFICATIONS

• O level / OND / HND / B.Sc. in Technological, Craft, Mechanical, Mathematical, or related fields.
• Minimum of 3 years relevant work experience (e-hailing, commercial driving, janitorial, or engineering roles).
• Valid driver’s license (truck-driving experience is a plus).

RESPONSIBILITIES & FUNCTIONS

1. Logistics Functions

• Safely transport staff members, armed/unarmed security personnel, and ad-hoc staff.
• Deliver farm produce (fish, poultry, crops, processed goods, etc.) to designated outlets or warehouses.
• Pick up supplies and farm inputs (feed, seeds, spare parts, tools, chemicals, etc.) from vendors.
• Operate light trucks, pickups, and farm vehicles for internal and external deliveries.
• Maintain accurate trip logs, mileage, and fuel records.
• Assist management with personal or official transport when needed.
• Respond to emergency transport needs (medical evacuation, urgent farm supplies).
• Oversee proper loading/unloading of goods to prevent damage.

2. Maintenance Functions

• Act as the first responder for plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical issues.
• Inspect, maintain, and carry out minor repairs on farm facilities (housing, offices, stores, kitchens, security posts).
• Troubleshoot and maintain farm machinery and equipment (water pumps, irrigation systems, incubators, processing machines, feed mixers).
• Perform light welding, carpentry, and pipework as needed.
• Conduct preventive maintenance routines to minimise downtime.
• Advise management on when to escalate issues to professional contractors.
• Keep an inventory of tools, spares, and maintenance supplies and share with the stock officer

3. Supervisory Functions

• Lead and mentor all drivers and delivery personnel.
• Oversee servicing, repairs, and washing of all company vehicles.
• Schedule drivers’ shifts and ensure vehicles are ready for daily operations.
• Enforce compliance with traffic and safety regulations.
• Submit periodic reports on logistics, maintenance, and security to the Head of Operations.
• Perform other duties as may be assigned by management.

• Driving expertise (cars, pickups, light trucks; defensive driving skills).
• Vehicle maintenance and repair basics (oil, tyres, brakes, minor engine fixes).
• Plumbing (pipe fittings, leak repairs, water system troubleshooting).
• Electrical maintenance (wiring basics, fuse replacement, power troubleshooting).
• Carpentry and facility repair (doors, shelves, farm housing structures).
• Mechanical awareness of pumps, generators, feed machines, and processing units.
• Welding and fabrication basics.
